Interactive Chapel Services for Juvenile Detention Centers

Currently chapel services are held in the juvenile detention centers in St. Louis City and St. Louis County. These services are one of the important activities that the chaplains from Episcopal City Mission carry on inside the three detention centers. The sacred space is created in the gym at one center, in the cafeteria in another, and in a classroom in the other center. The United Thank Offering will fund a NEW direction for the services making them interactive using a variety of multimedia experiences to which the teenagers/children can easily relate. Today’s teenagers/children live in a multimedia world. $6,500.00 was granted to cover the cost of laptop computers, projectors, and one screen (walls are available as a screen in two of the facilities) for the weekly services offered in the three different detention centers Episcopal City Mission serves. Training the chaplains on the capabilities of the equipment so they can put together the new and innovative services is also part of the grant.
